This dataset includes yearly information about transport services for a wide variety of countries. Transport services covers all transport services (sea, air, land, internal waterway, space, and pipeline) performed by residents of one economy for those of another and involving the carriage of passengers, movement of goods (freight), rental of carriers with crew, and related support and auxiliary services.

The World Integrated Trade Solution (WITS) is a trade software provided by the World Bank for users to query several international trade databases. WITS is software that includes several databases provided by partner international organizations and other sources.

This dataset includes yearly information of Measure of Aggregate Trade Restrictions (MATR), using data from the IMF’s Annual Report on Exchange Arrangements and Exchange Restrictions.. MATR is an empirical measure of how restrictive official government policy is towards the international flow of goods and services. MATR is based on the IMF’s AREAER binary variables related to (i) exchange measures; (ii) arrangements for payments and receipts; (iii) imports and imports payments; (iv) exports and exports proceeds, and (v) payment and proceeds from invisible transfers and current transfers. This simplest version of MATR is the unweighted sum of up to 22 possible variables. Each subindicator is scored as 1 if a restriction is present in a particular country for a particular year, and 0 otherwise.

External Sector - Global - Measure of Aggregate Trade Restrictions (MATR)

MATR is an empirical measure of how restrictive official government policy is towards the international flow of goods and services. MATR is simple, ad hoc, plausible, quantitative, easily updated, based solely on policy-relevant measures of trade policy, and covers an unbalanced sample of about 157 countries annually between 1949 and 2020. MATR is also strongly correlated with existing measures of openness and trade policy but more comprehensive than existing measures. We use MATR to show that trade restrictions are harmful for the economy and lead to significant contractions in output.

Measure of Aggregate Trade Restrictions (MATR)

This dataset includes yearly information of the Digital Services Trade Restrictiveness Index (DSTRI) published by OECD, for multiple countries. The DSTRI measures cross-cutting barriers that inhibit or completely prohibit firms’ ability to supply services using electronic networks, regardless of the sector in which they operate. It includes five measures: 1) infrastructure and connectivity, 2) electronic transactions, 3) e-payment systems, 4) intellectual property rights and 5) other barriers to trade in digitally enabled services. Thus, it's a composite index that takes values between 0 and 1, where 0 indicates an open regulatory environment for digitally enabled trade and 1 indicates a completely closed regime.

This dataset includes yearly information of Global value chains (GVCs) published in World Integrated Trade Solution (WITS), about measures that are computed by a team of The World Bank and Bank of Italy researchers. There are two data concepts used. They are GVC Trade and GVC Output. Trade contains measures related to international trade. The unit of observation are exporting and importing country, sector, year and source. GVC Ouptut contains measures related to gross output of each country. The unit of observation is Country, Sector, Year and Source. Data is in millions of US Dollar. External Trade - Global - WITS - Global Value Chains (GVC)

This dataset includes yearly index measuring the revealed comparative advantage (RCA) for multiple countries, published by United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD). Revealed comparative advantage (RCA) is based on Ricardian trade theory, which posits that patterns of trade among countries are governed by their relative differences in productivity. While the metric can be used to provide a general indication and first approximation of a country's competitive export strengths, it should be noted that applied national measures which affect competitiveness such as tariffs, non-tariff measures, subsidies and others are not taken into account in the RCA metric

The value added in the ICT sector as a percentage of total business sector value added: This indicator represents the estimated value added of the ICT sector divided by total business sector value added (in %).
